TODAY!!! Two Honduras events!!!
*
Honduras: Indigenous and Popular Resistance to the Military Coup. A talk by
Grahame Russell of Rights Action***

October 22, 2009

12pm – 1:30pm

Location: Hauser Hall 103, Harvard Law School, Cambridge, MA

Sponsored by HLS Advocates for Human Rights and La Alianza

And at 7pm at Encuento 5 in Chinatown, 33 Harrison Ave.

Building on 11 years of work in Honduras, Rights Action is working in
support of the pro-democracy movement of the Honduran people. On June 28,
the Honduran military, in collusion with Honduran economic and political
elites, the hierarchy of the Catholic Church, and the media, overthrew the
democratically elected government of President Mel Zelaya. Since that date,
a massive movement of the Honduran people has come together to peacefully
restore democracy to their country.

Since the coup, Rights Action staff have been in Honduras, channeling
emergency funds to victims of the repression; reporting daily on the
pro-democracy movement and the repression; and providing accompaniment for
Hondurans at risk of repression for their participation in the pro-democracy
movement.

Grahame Russell, co-director of Rights Action, will be addressing these and
other issues during his lunchtime presentation.

Dessert will be available. Contact Komala (kramachandra at law.harvard.edu) if
you have any questions.
