movement, Ramón Ulises Castellanos and Miguel Sauceda. Please call Congress
now to highlight ongoing violations in Honduras. *

*This afternoon the House of Representatives is hosting a hearing entitled
"Next Steps on Honduras." *The hearing follows Secretary of State Clinton's
announcement earlier this month that the U.S. will restore military aid to
Honduras, based on her impression that Honduras has reached a "successful
conclusion of the crisis…without violence." Clinton's words ring hollow to
the family of Ramón Ulises Castellanos and Miguel Sauceda, two farmworkers
of the resistance movement shot to death last Friday. Since Porfirio Lobo
took office in late January, Honduras has suffered seven such
politically-motivated assassinations.

*Amidst systematic intimidation, arrests, and murders of Honduras's active
resistance movement, a reinstatement of U.S. military aid is
unconscionable. *We have joined 40 organizations in sending a letter to key
Congressional offices<http://org2.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=vHL3BosHulkbY0CvMEVdhjr3LZDNn17o>that
details the alarming situation in Honduras. These grave concerns need
to be raised in today's hearing on the future of U.S.-Honduras relations.
To ensure that they are, please call and email your representative right
now:

*1. Call your House representative*, ask for the foreign policy staffer's
email, and then ask to speak to the staffer. (If you don't know your
representative's number, call the U.S. Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121
and give your address). Upon being connected with the staffer (or her/his
voicemail), ask the staffer to attend the Honduras hearing at 2pm and to
express concern about the ongoing violations of human rights. Click here to
use our letter to Congress for talking
points<http://org2.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=KubN2%2BsCwHNwGu4P3I7XATr3LZDNn17o>.

*
2. Send the foreign policy staffer a quick follow-up email. * Attach to the
email our letter raising concerns about U.S. policy toward Honduras: download
the letter here<http://org2.democracyinaction.org/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=Cfl27TcH2Fo0T2At3uUC2Tr3LZDNn17o>.

Hondurans are asking for our support in gaining U.S. policies that would
halt, not whitewash, ongoing human rights violations. Please heed their
call by making your call to Congress now.

In solidarity,

Ben Beachy
National Grassroots Organizer

P.S. Hondurans need your support today. Please call Congress now and ask
that the truth about ongoing violations be shared in today's hearing.
