> Texas. Franklin seeks asylum here in the US to escape persecution by the<br>

> $4000 bond to the court, which will enable him to continue to fight his<br>
> asylum case in California.<br>

> Franklin M. has been a resistance leader in the Valley of Sula in the North<br>
> Coast. After the June 28, 2010 coup d'état in Honduras, both Franklin and<br>
> his mother joined the ranks of the resistance movement against the ouster of<br>
> democratically-<div class="ecxygrp-content" style="font-family: Georgia; font-size: 100%; line-height: 122%;"><wbr>elected President Manuel Zelaya. Since then, human and civil<br>
> rights abuses have been perpetrated against civilians throughout Honduras by<br>
> the coup regime and military, which have sought to legitimize their power by<br>
> stifling civilian criticism and resistance. *Franklin and his family are<br>
> among those who have been persecuted by surveillance of their home by<br>
> military police, kidnapping of his brother and threat to his mother, also a<br>
> popular resistance leader.* Prior to the coup, his entire family was<br>
> involved in the Honduran popular movement. His father was tortured and<br>
> killed during the strife in Central America in the 1980’s. Franklin fears<br>
> for his safety in Honduras.<br>

> Franklin’s commitment to fighting for the restoration of democracy in<br>
> Honduras remains as strong as ever. As a witness to the injustice of the<br>
> coup and the powerful and staunch resistance, his voice must be heard and he<br>
> must be allowed to remain safely here to escape political persecution.<br>
