<br><br>Rafael Barahona, Libre candidate for mayor of Tegucigalpa and current<br>
City Council member was shot tonight and is in the hospital now with two<br>
bullet wounds in his forearm.<br>
Already before the attack, Libre has called out to the Hondurans to<br>
protest today against "the repression by the direction of the Honduran<br>
Congress."<br>

José Guadalupe Ruelas, the recently attacked director of Casa Alianza,<br>
held a press conference yesterday. He expressed fear that the state<br>
continues their smear campaign against him and that he will suffer new<br>
attacks. He also demanded that the public prosecutor who also<br>
investigated the murder of the son of Julieta Castellanos (UNAH) takes<br>
up his case, as the current prosecutor was married with someone from the<br>
Security Secretariat. He also repeated that they took some six<br>
breathalyser tests, all of which came back negative.<br>
Meanwhile the Honduran organization ACI-PARTICIPA and further<br>
organization also condemn the attack on Ruelas.<br>
And the fear of Ruelas of a continuous defamation campaign seems to be<br>
well founded given this new article by La Tribuna (5th and 6th link).<br>
