Rafael Barahona, Libre candidate for mayor of Tegucigalpa and current
City Council member was shot tonight and is in the hospital now with two
bullet wounds in his forearm.
Already before the attack, Libre has called out to the Hondurans to
protest today against "the repression by the direction of the Honduran
Congress."

José Guadalupe Ruelas, the recently attacked director of Casa Alianza,
held a press conference yesterday. He expressed fear that the state
continues their smear campaign against him and that he will suffer new
attacks. He also demanded that the public prosecutor who also
investigated the murder of the son of Julieta Castellanos (UNAH) takes
up his case, as the current prosecutor was married with someone from the
Security Secretariat. He also repeated that they took some six
breathalyser tests, all of which came back negative.
Meanwhile the Honduran organization ACI-PARTICIPA and further
organization also condemn the attack on Ruelas.
And the fear of Ruelas of a continuous defamation campaign seems to be
well founded given this new article by La Tribuna (5th and 6th link).
